Tyson Foods’ Discovery Center is an industry-leading research and development complex designed to enhance the company’s ability to collaborate with customers to create new foods and bring them to market more quickly. The 100,000 square foot facility, located at Tyson World Headquarters in Springdale, is a hub of food innovation that uses consumer insight, as well as culinary and manufacturing expertise to develop and test new products. It is home to the food science and culinary professionals who are part of Tyson’s Research and Development team. The facility includes 19 specialized research kitchens, a multi-protein pilot plant, a packaging innovation lab, a sensory analysis lab and consumer focus group capabilities.

NOW Diagnostics

Ascendant DX

Could tears be used to detect breast cancer? A Springdale company, Ascendant DX, is working to make breast cancer detection easier and more affordable. The company’s scientists have created a test that uses a person’s tears to detect protein markers tied to breast cancer. The test is more accurate than the more expensive and uncomfortable mammograms now used for screening. Validation studies have been completed with national clinical trials next on tap before this breakthrough technology is in the hands of doctors nationwide.
