Springdale is home to the largest healthcare system in Northwest Arkansas. For more than 60 years, Northwest Health System’s (NWHS) hospitals and medical staff have provided the facilities, technology and training necessary to meet the growing medical needs of the region. The 222-bed acute care facility has over 300 physicians on its medical staff representing a wide range of medical specialties and subspecialties.
As part of Northwest Health System’s cardiovascular program, Northwest Medical Center–Springdale was the first hospital in Northwest Arkansas to earn accreditation as a Chest Pain Center. The state’s first open-heart surgery was performed at Northwest Medical Center–Springdale and today this rich legacy continues.
The hospital is the first and only healthcare provider in Northwest Arkansas home to the Northwest Robotic Surgery Institute offering robot-assisted, minimally invasive surgery. The hospital also offers advanced minimally invasive surgery options for innovative procedures that address general surgery, urological (including prostate cancer) and gynecological concerns.
In 2013, Northwest Medical Center – Springdale completed a $12 million construction project renovating and expanding the Emergency Department. The construction added 30,000 square feet to the hospital which will allow for other services to grow as well.
