Compassionate, professional cancer support and education

The mission of Hope Cancer Resources is to provide compassionate, professional cancer support and education to the Northwest Arkansas region today and tomorrow with a vision for all cancer patients to have access to cancer services they need with a focus on improving quality of life and lowering the incidence of cancer in Northwest Arkansas.

In 2009, the Boards of Directors of NARTI and HOPE, Inc. announced that they would be joining forces and merging to form a new, stronger organization. That organization is now a reality: Hope Cancer Resources. Separately, both organizations have a long history of high quality, compassionate programs serving cancer patients and the community of Northwest Arkansas. Together, these programs and services will be more effective and efficient and will touch even more lives.

Hope Cancer Resources employs a highly-professional staff which includes a team of licensed oncology social workers, a registered nurse, a certified patient navigator, a Spanish interpreter, a certified health education specialist and a certified tumor registrar. A transportation service is provided to take patients to every cancer treatment as needed as well as education to help a patient during and after their treatment. Financial assistance is also provided for prescription medications, nutritional supplements, gas cards, as well as everyday living expenses to alleviate some of the financial stress a patient and their family may face.

Believing emotional support is essential for healthy survivorship, the organization offers this service ranging from a kind word or listening ear to one-on-one, couples or family counseling sessions with a licensed mental health professional. Hope Cancer Resources also collaborates with other agencies to provide emotional support in group settings.

Clinical trials hold the key to breakthroughs in the treatment and prevention of cancer. Hope Cancer Resources serves as Northwest Arkansas' only site management organization, assisting local physicians with the development and management of cancer clinical trials. Hope Cancer Resources currently coordinates several clinical trials, providing access to state-of-the-art research right here in our community.

In addition, Hope Cancer Resources will impact the community by providing free cancer screenings and cancer prevention education for public schools, employers and the general public. This education includes breast self-examination, smoking cessation, reducing tobacco use, promoting healthy lifestyles and other means to reduce the risk of cancer. Hope Cancer Resources also maintains the NWA Cancer Registry, which is a database of the cancers diagnosed here in our area. The NWA Cancer Registry is the largest regional cancer registry in the state.
